In November 2014 we posted a story on Brittany Maynard, a beautiful 29 year-old newlywed diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and no hope for a cure. She made the controversial decision to end her life, on her terms, in Oregon where death with dignity laws allow terminally ill patients to take a lethal dose of prescribed medication to end their life.

Our mission at Miller Elder Law Firm is to passionately advocate for issues of the aging and special needs population, and we want to share Brittany’s story to help everyone learn more about planning for a good death. Although there are many different opinions about the death with dignity law, we want to bring it to your attention so you can make informed choices before the situation presents itself.

Compassion and Choices, a nonprofit organization that advocates for death with dignity, posted this follow up story:
If you missed Dan Diaz on Oprah last weekend – you’re going to want to watch this.

Brittany Maynard’s Husbands Speaks About Her Final Day.

Dan is Brittany Maynard’s husband, and he’s been fighting every day since she passed away to make sure that her dying wish, to pass death-with-dignity laws in California and around the country, is realized.

He appeared on Oprah’s Where Are They Now? last Sunday and told her how he’s continuing to fight, what Brittany’s last moments were like and how Brittany found piece of mind from the aid-in-dying option.
