“We do have some new programs coming out for Medicaid soon. We know that right now, the federal government is considering a waiver for Medicaid in Florida that will have pretty intensive implications for us in the near future. We are pretty certain that eventually that waiver will be approved and what will happen is Medicaid will change dramatically.

The idea will be that there will be some privatization of Medicaid and providers will have to apply and be approved and then there will be some changes to the way that Medicaid works. For the most part, Medicaid long term care qualification will remain the same. The home-based community service care is going to be a new provider of services that will allow people to remain in their homes longer.

We don’t have any ideas as far as what kind of waiting list there’s going to be or what exactly the qualification criteria are going to be for those benefits, but that’s coming. That’s on the horizon and something that we all need to keep an eye on.”
